About this blog

This website was created as a place to compile notes, to keep them in one place, as a resource for an occasional wanderer, looking for a perspective other than those promoted by religious groups intent on flooding media with their version of reality.

I have tried dabbling with sites like Substack, but with mixed success. The problem is that fundamentally, religious people embrace dogmatism and closed-mindedness, and create a worldview that is impervious to input at the most fundamental levels. So, confronting believers with the absurdity of their beliefs, by pointing out contradictions, for example, is largely a waste of time. That’s just the way they are. In fact, it’s a badge of honor for them to believe without proof (Faith).

A problem with sites like Substack is content writers are constantly competing for attention (as I am here!) but because of the blogging format, must create something new regularly, because posts have a lifespan lasting only a few days typically. One could write the most insightful note or post, and within a few days, it’s essentially gone forever. Worse, writers will churn out ‘have a nice day!’ kinds of content, to stir the pot, to keep something in play, rather than offer a perspective of substance. Most distressingly, these kind of vapid, content-free posts which can receive hundreds of likes, clutter the blog by drowning out other posts.

As a life-long atheist, I never fail to be disappointed at the low caliber of religious apologetics. Sure there are ‘deep’ thinkers in Theology Departments, but very few believers critically scrutinize what theologians offer, and most believers are hooked either from childhood indoctrination, or from emotional vulnerability making them easy prey for manipulative proselytizers who crave validation through recruiting others into their worldview.

On this website I collect my thoughts and notes on atheism and belief, and share them in the hope that others might find them useful. The obvious truth here is that believers will not give honest information about non-belief as an option for personal philosophy, and will blissfully ignore their contradictions.

Do I give a fair representation of religions? I’m sure believers would say not; all I can do is explain an atheist’s perspective and it is up to the reader to decide for themselves.

Of course this blog is ‘experimental’ – I have to see if it’s worth the effort!
